Between the ages of twelve and seventeen, I didn’t spend a single day sober. I cycled through cigarettes, marijuana, pills, alcohol, and eventually battled a meth addiction that consumed nearly a year of my life. I dropped out during my eleventh-grade year, lost in the grip of addiction. But deep down, I knew I was meant for more. I fought my way out. I walked away from toxic relationships, distanced myself from harmful environments, and found refuge in the gym—the YMCA became my sanctuary and, in many ways, saved my life. I went on to earn my GED, determined to rewrite my story. Not long after, I met someone, fell in love, and became a mother. That life-changing moment reignited my passion for health and fitness—I was determined to regain strength, physically and mentally. I enrolled in college while raising my son, juggling multiple jobs, learning new skills, and pursuing a dream of self-employment I had carried since I was fourteen. That drive led me across six states and twelve cities, building a network, landing modeling and acting agents, and eventually walking in national fashion shows and appearing on television. At 5’9” and 115 pounds, physical wellness had become second nature—but emotional healing was still a journey I had yet to take. It wasn’t until a few years into studying psychology in college that I truly began to understand the roots of my behaviors—addiction, people-pleasing, hyper-independence, and constant fight-or-flight. Through self-development, therapy, and inner work, I began the process of unlearning nearly three decades of survival mode. Healing taught me that life isn’t about chasing the next best thing or the quick fix—not in recovery, and not in anything meaningful. It’s about presence, peace, and purpose. True transformation came when I stopped looking outward and started nurturing my own inner clarity. It was never about anyone else—it was about protecting my energy, being intentional with the rooms I entered, and learning that we become what we surround ourselves with. How we feed our minds shapes how our lives unfold; I chose to begin nourishing mine with purpose, feeding my mind, body, and spirit with things that make me a better person, not hinder me from my truest and utmost potential.
